China to ban ‘fantasy’ sex toys, sex dolls

The country is expected to sign an agreement with the United States on new guidelines for the use of sex toys by children.

China’s State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) said it will regulate the sex toys of minors, ban the sale of fantasy toys, and impose restrictions on the sale and use of toy sex dolls.SAPRTF will also establish a task force to promote child-friendly education.

“The proposed new guidelines are designed to ensure that children are not exposed to the harmful effects of sex-related products and toys,” the agency said.

It said it has approved three products to be sold in schools and a sex doll to be made in factories.

China is one of the world’s largest consumers of sex dolls, with more than a million products, including many of them with pornographic and erotic content, available online.

China has banned the use and sale of sex robots and other devices that simulate sexual intercourse and simulated human relationships.

The ban came as a result of a crackdown by the government in the past year on sex toys that have been marketed to children.

In September, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission sued the UBS and Credit Suisse over claims they promoted child pornography and failed to adequately warn consumers about the risks.

The U.K.-based bank said it would no longer offer its products in China and that it has “decided not to engage with” the government.

Credit Suisse said the move was made after a meeting with Chinese officials in early December.

China banned the sale in September of the “Sex Toy Machine,” which it described as a device that “provides a platform for children to play with real-life sexual fantasies” and “provide an alternative to the internet for sharing and purchasing such toys”.

In September a Chinese consumer watchdog ruled that sex toys were “not a safe toy” because of “high risk of causing damage to children’s mental and physical health”.

It warned the products were “harmful to children”.
