Wilder, Stempniak trade storylines,Czech winger traded to Oilers

The Wild have traded forward Ryan Stempny to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for defenseman J.T. Miller and forward Matt Dumba.

The Wild, who are in a two-game road trip, have two games in five days before heading home for the remainder of the regular season.

Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said Stempney will be a healthy scratch on the road trip.

Stempney, 21, has four goals and nine assists in 20 games for the Wild this season.

Miller, 22, has eight goals and 18 assists in 41 games.

Dumba, 22., has nine goals and 17 assists in 45 games for Edmonton.

The Oilers were looking for a veteran defensemen, and they got one in Miller, who signed a three-year, $12.5 million contract this offseason.

The Stars have lost defenseman Trevor Daley to free agency and defenseman Jason Demers is a restricted free agent.

Dallas also lost forward Jason Dickinson to free Agency and center Brenden Dillon to a trade.
